Interviews with us
We understand that some people struggle with interviews, and that they may be harder for some than others. We want to make it as easy as possible for you to impress us, and we believe that people perform their best when they are comfortable. Our mission is to offer the fairest interviews that allow everyone to enter the process on a level playing field. Remember that if you are offered an interview, then we already see your talent and potential as part of our team.
Harker recognise the value that comes from a diverse team with differing experiences and perspectives. As stated on all of our job listings, we welcome applications from demographics that are underrepresented in the technology industry. You can find our full EDI pledge here.
Dress code
Whilst we do not have a dress code for our staff, we do have a smart casual suggestion for interviews and our staff on the interview panel will follow it on the day. Suitable outfits include:
Polo shirt with chinos
Blouse with skirt
Button-down shirt with dark jeans
Jumper with shirt underneath and dark jeans
Smart trousers with a shirt, jumper or cardigan
This dress code is only guidance to give you an idea of what you could wear. You will not be disadvantaged if you do not follow this dress code.
Reasonable adjustments
We are a Disability Confident Leader (Level 3) and take care to ensure good EDI practices in all our operations. As such, we appreciate that disabled applicants may need certain adjustments for their interview. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to support you by replying to our interview offer email. There are no ‘silly’ requests, and we pledge to do everything we can to accommodate your needs. Some potential adjustments include:
Holding your interview in a ground floor meeting room if you have mobility issues
Providing a print-out of the questions in the interview room
The interview panel using visual cues (such as raising their hand) when speaking
Allowing the use of a fidget toy during the interview
You will not be disadvantaged for the use of adjustments in your interview. In addition, you do not need to disclose your particular disability (or provide evidence) to get an adjustment. If you do choose to disclose your disability, it will be held in the strictest confidence by Team People (our HR department) and your interview panel will only be informed with your consent.

Best of luck with your interview!
