Welcome to our forever home at CENTRAL TECH

Love at first sight
Ever since founding Harker, we’ve always been interested in Sensor City. It’s striking circuit board design is proudly on display in various views of the city centre, whether it’s from University of Liverpool buildings or up the hill from Lime Street Station. Fate wouldn’t let us step inside until April 2025, when Sensor City was finally set to re-open under new branding as CENTRAL TECH, the new hub of tech innovation in the Liverpool city centre.
From the moment our team stepped inside, we knew it was the perfect home for us. Coming at an exciting time of growth for the company, it was the perfect space to expand into, moving into a space that felt a lot more ‘us’. We now have a large office room sporting eight workstations and a bigger meeting room. This comes at a perfect time for us as we hit double digits in our headcount.
Onwards and upwards
Our previous home in the Knowledge Quarter (KQ) was Liverpool Science Park, which served us well since Harker was founded in 2023, first as a small office room then a larger three-room space. The team has a lot of great memories in LSP, but we knew it wasn’t our forever home, it never felt right for us as a software start-up when most occupants were health and life sciences focused.
The teams at Sciontec and KQ Liverpool have been key supporters on our journey, so when we caught wind of CENTRAL TECH, it was a no-brainer. We’re thrilled to be continuing our journey with the Sciontec team as we’ve continued to scale with them since 2023. Harker has also moved to CENTRAL TECH along with our partner company, Jamescape.
Emily Robson, Assistant Chief Executive at KQ Liverpool, said:
"It's fantastic to see Jamescape and Harker grow and expand at Sciontec's new innovation hub CENTRAL TECH, as one of the first innovative companies to join the growing ecosystem of digital, tech, and innovation businesses based here. Watching the growth of both companies has been amazing, not just in terms of their team and the physical space they occupy but also in terms of their values and championing of EDI, Living Wage and Disability Confidence. Having been based in CENTRAL TECH just a few weeks, Jamescape and Harker have already further demonstrated their values as an employer by helping us in our mission of inspiring the next generation of innovators through supporting a KQ Future Innovators visit whereby secondary school students took part in an interactive session with the team at CENTRAL TECH. Jamescape and Harker continue to go from strength to strength, and we look forward to seeing the next stage of their growth journey."
